  • 1/4 cup soy sauce , local brand
  • 1/4 cup calamansi juice
  • 500 g US Beef Shortplate , sliced across the grain
  • 2 Tbsps corn oil
  • 1 Tbsp garlic , minced
  • 1/2 cup onions , minced
  • 3 cups water
  • 1 Tbsp corn oil
  • 1 pc onion , sliced
  • 1 Tbsp spring onions , chopped

steps

  1. In a non-reactive bowl, combine soy sauce and calamansi juice. Mix well. Marinate sliced beef in the  mixture for 30 minutes.
  2. Heat a saucepan; add corn oil and sauté garlic and onions. Add beef and marinade to the  mixture along with 3 cups of water.
  3. Bring to a boil and reduce to a simmer. Cook until tender (about 1 hour).
  4. Once the beef is tender,  transfer to serving dish. In a sauté pan, heat corn oil and lightly brown sliced  onions. Place sliced onions and some chopped spring onions over your Bistek Tagalog. Serve.
