With Valentine's a week away, lovers of all ages are probably either scrambling to make plans before the big day, or eagerly counting down the days until the 14th because they made them well in advance. On the other hand, there are those who aren't paired up and want to sleep the day away to avoid the throng of lovesick individuals invading the streets.
Since I myself don't have any plans for February 14 (my boyfriend and I don't like crowds), I've come up with a little list of things you can do this coming V-Day.
Have a romantic dinner out with your sweetie.
You knew that was coming, right? A special date out with your special someone is probably one of the best things about Valentine's Day. If you haven't made plans yet, make them now!
Here are some of my favorite romantic date places in Metro Manila that are worth checking out.
This is only a small list among many others. Where are your favorite date places?

Have a romantic night in with your sweetie.
For the people who don't want to brave the Valentine's Day crowds (like me), staying in with your lover is also a great way to celebrate your togetherness. Of course, to set this apart from a regular night in, pull out all the stops and cook your own romantic dinner! Trust me, nothing brings people closer more than a shared activity, such as cooking dinner with friends or loved ones. Don't worry about not being the best cook around, the experience of planning a menu, cooking the food, setting the table and finally sitting down to eat is what makes it special. Grab a copy of this month's issue of Appetite Magazine to see special recipes and a list of restaurants to check out this month.

All you single readers out there might be asking, "What about us?"
Prior to meeting my boyfriend, I was very good at staging pity parties on Valentine's Day, simply because I was unable to shake off the bitterness I felt for happily coupled people. While I don't want you to do the same thing I did, I do suggest one important thing:
Regardless of whether or not you're single on Valentine's Day, always do what makes you happy.
Don't wallow in sadness about being single, because you know that there are lots of people who care about you. There are lots of things you can do on February 14th with people you love!
Ring up your single friends and go out together as a group. Grab a few drinks or party in the clubs! Have fun! Be crazy! Be silly! Or you can stay in with your favorite movies lined up, along with a bucket of your favorite ice cream flavor - mine just happens to be strawberry. Pamper yourself and get your nails done, or have a long massage at the end of the work day. Have dinner with your family at a place you all love (provided you reserved first!). Whatever floats your boat, remember that you deserve to be happy. With that, I leave you with random vintage Valentine's Day cards I found on Tumblr that are sure to put a smile on your face. Advanced Happy Valentine's Day, everyone!
