I’ve been in search for the best milk tea in town since the craze started. At first, I’d buy myself a cup of milk tea every single day before or after classes. It wasn’t healthy but I couldn’t help it! I was very addicted with the drink and trying new ones everyday just kept me searching for more. When the newest building along Katipunan, Regis Center, opened, my friends and I were excited to see a row of restaurants waiting for us to try them out.

The design of the place is simple and modern. It looked very relaxing!

This is the usual crowd at Saint’s Alp. People really love the place!

To my surprise, I saw another milk tea place: Saints Alp Teahouse. Just like any milk tea place I visit, I start out by ordering the simplest and safest drink: Royal Milk Tea – or in this case Black Tea with Milk. I had my staple pearl add-on and just before I paid for my drink, the (barista) asked me if I also wanted to add white moustache which was their version of rock salt and cheese. The idea sounded good so I immediately agreed.

If I were short in cash or just plain kuripot that day, I would have cancelled my order because my total bill for the milk tea alone was P135. Almost the same as a cup of Frappuccino! But I wasn’t feeling it that day. Instead, I treated it as a one-time thing just for the sake of trying out yet another milk tea place. Little did I know that I was in for a surprise.

Black Tea with Milk and pearl add-on (P95), additional white moustache (P40).

The first sip was heaven. I totally loved it! The taste was just right, not too sweet. I didn’t even have to adjust the sugar level. It was the perfect milk tea fix for me. The only problem was I felt it was too expensive. Being a college student, I have to budget my allowance so I can survive the whole day in school. Which means getting to eat properly, and obviously milk tea is not a meal. For the next few days, I passed by Saint’s Alp and bought myself a cup of milk tea – always the same thing. I tried not adding the white moustache but the taste didn’t feel right so I’ve come to the conclusion that when I go here, I should order exactly Black Milk Tea with Pearls and White Moustache to complete my milk tea experience. My journey to find the best milk tea in town has come to a halt for now because this proved to be a very hard contender to beat.

So if you want to try something new and budget is not really in the question… Drop by Saint’s Alp Teahouse and discover your perfect milk tea fix!
