Peking Garden specializes in Northern Chinese cuisine, offering a lot of dishes not found in other Chinese restaurants, while still carrying a lot of favorites in its extensive menu. Try the Double-Boiled Sea Whelk with Chinese Herbs Soup (P260), a light broth that draws sweetness from its ingredients. The soup may not be for everyone, but those who appreciate it will love this traditional Chinese comfort food. The Golden Prawns with Salted Egg (P580/870/1160) is a delight, the fat prawns encased in a salted-egg tinged batter, the extra burst of flavor pleasant and surprising. Unique to the restaurant are dishes served with Chinese puff pastry. The Minced Lamb in “Mongolian Style” with Sesame Puff (P520/780/1040), the lamb mixed with assorted vegetables, is a typical Northern Chinese dish that boasts exotic, subtle flavors. More exciting is the Deep-Fried Shredded Beef with Chili (P390/585/780), a fun spicy dish could also be an appetizer. Both dishes are supposed to be stuffed in the accompanying pastry shells, which make for interesting eating. One must not leave Peking Garden without ordering their Peking Duck (P2300). Quite pricey, but well worth it. The duck is sliced crosswise, with a good portion of meat and skin, with just enough fat in between both to infuse them with flavor. Quite possibly the best out there. Peking Garden also has set menus for Chinese lauriats, 8-12 course meals for 6-10 people that are popular during celebrations.
