At MoMo, it could be sunny and bright, a bad weather gray or a well-lit night, depending on the mood captured by the café’s prominent high-ceiling glass walls. Whatever the atmosphere, every moment calls for the pleasures of what the name stands for—MOre food, MOre drinks. Owned and operated by the restaurant specialists behind Chelsea Market and Café and Museum Café fame, MOMO carries the same unmistakable hip, eclectic vibe characteristic of Raintree’s group of restaurants but, unlike the fiercely conceptual, high-end attributes of its predecessors, what MOMO offers from its little corner in the new Eastwood Parkview Mall is uniquely created for its more laidback QC clientele.
Opened in July 2009, MOMO Café is quickly becoming the kind of place where people gather for just about everything they need at any time of day—breakfast; business meetings; sharing life stories over hot sandwiches and hefty meals; or unwinding with beer, wine and cocktails. On weekends, families go early to avoid the lunch and dinner queues for MOMO’s fun and no-frills dining.
What about this “momolicious” food anyway? Raintree corporate chef Kalel Chan responds, “In coming up with the choices, we asked ourselves, ‘What do people want?’ Not ‘What do we want to offer them?’ ” MOMO’s menu evolved spontaneously from there.
