Review

Long before Filipino diners became spoiled with the almost limitless dining options of today, the first choice when eating out was always to go to a Chinese restaurant. But short of going to Binondo or Greenhills for authentic Comida China, or even food courts in city malls for Chinoy food, there were hardly any Chinese specialty restaurants for the middle market.

This was so until King Bee Restaurant  came into the scene.  It all started when the Ng family members became serious foodies, trying out different restaurants week after week all over Manila. Soon, they realized that with their choices running out, they should just eat at their grandma’s house where the food was much better. Grandma’s Chinese name translated to
“king bee” in English, and the term of endearment  for the Ng matriarch eventually became “King Bee”. It thus became
an inside joke amongst them, kidding each other that they should just dine at “King Bee Restaurant”.
