Vietnamese cuisine is slowly making its presence felt in the international culinary scene (specifically in the United States and in Europe) for its fresh, straightforward flavors, as well as for championing the use of fresh ingredients and for balancing the use of meat and produce in every dish. Unfortunately, it is taking a while for Vietnamese cuisine to take off here in the Philippines. Vietnamese dishes are available in Asian fusion restaurants around the metro, but when it comes to authentic fare, there are only a handful of choices.

Ba Noi's in Legaspi Village has been in full operation since March 2010. Much like Vietnamese cuisine, this restaurant has been attracting a lot of attention from bloggers, food experts and foodies. It has a reputation for serving authentic Vietnamese fare. Ba Noi's was nominated for two MBKRS (Manila's Best Kept Secret) Awards last year, for the Best Specialty Cuisine and Best New Comer categories. And indeed, it is a secret that ought to be discovered. Ba Noi's is a quaint, hole-in-the-wall restaurant of humble appearance. It does not seek to overwhelm its guests with expensive looking furniture and complicated interior design. This works to the restaurant's advantage because the focus of the entire experience of dining here is the food.
